Inspiring Inclusion Sarasota is a 2.5-hour workshop which provides knowledge and tools for educators, social workers, counselors, administrators, and any community members who would like to advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA) youth.

 

Participants will: 

  • Develop awareness of LGBTIQA diversity issues.

  • Idenfity current research on school safety, bullying, harassment, and its impact on LGBTQIA students, families, and school climate.

  • Identify and develop strategies to create safe, and affirmative environments for LGBTQIA youth.

  • Identify and develop strategies for sensitive and appropriate interventions and advocacy when LGBTQIA students and those perceived to be LGBTQIA are bullied and harassed.

 

This event is free and open-to-the-public, however seating is limited. Please make your reservation through the event's Eventbrite page as soon as possible, or else you may have to wait until this workshop is offered again. Coffee and light breakfast items will be provided.
