ALSO Youth’s GED financial assistance is a new service supporting the continued education of LGBTQ+ youth and allies ages 18-24. This scholarship covers the cost of a prep course, a prep book, and your GED test. Payment of your GED testing fee will be contingent on the successful completion of your chosen GED prep course.

Scholarship funds are paid directly to the recipient’s prep course provider and testing center. Funds are designated for tuition, required fees, books, and testing only.

Scholarship Options

Manatee County

• Provided by Manatee Technical College.

• Semester long course provided either in-person or hybrid online. Located at several locations throughout Manatee County.

• Scholarship Value: $233

Sarasota County

• Provided by Suncoast Technical College.

• Semester long course provided either in-person or online. Applicants must make an appointment to register with Suncoast Technical College.

• Scholarship Value: $213

GED Live Online Classes

• GED Live provided by GED Testing Service.

• Strictly online course with synchronous and asynchronous options for 90 days.

• Recipients are required to schedule an appointment with ALSO Youth staff to initiate membership.
